Our precision planetary reducer gearboxes for electric motors are custom-made through a powder metallurgy process. This process can avoid or greatly reduce the need for metal removal processes, resulting in lower production costs. Our gearboxes are made of metal alloy, iron, stainless steel, or brass, and can be polished, plated, sandblasted, PVD coated and other surface treatments as required.<\/p>\n
Powder metallurgy is a term covering a wide range of ways in which materials or components are made from metal powders. The process consists of powder blending, die compaction, and sintering. Compaction is generally performed at room temperature, and the elevated-temperature process of sintering is usually conducted at atmospheric pressure and under carefully controlled atmosphere composition. Optional secondary processing such as coining or heat treatment often follows to obtain special properties or enhanced precision.<\/p>\n
This step can often involve the introduction of alloying additions in elemental powder form or the incorporation of a pressing lubricant.<\/p>\n
The dominant consolidation process involves pressing in a rigid toolset, comprising a die, punches, and possibly mandrels or core rods. However, there are several other consolidation processes that are used in niche applications.<\/p>\n
This process step involves heating the material to a temperature that is below the melting point of the major constituent. In some cases, a minor constituent can form a liquid phase at sintering temperature; such cases are described as liquid phase sintering. The mechanisms involved in CHINAMFG phase and liquid phase sintering are discussed briefly in a later section.<\/p>\n
