Where ratio requirements exceed what a 3-stage design can efficiently provide, the EP-PWD3500 optionally adds a fourth reduction stage within the same external envelope, reaching 250:1 overall ratio without tandem-connecting two separate gearboxes. The torsional flex coupling at the motor interface absorbs cyclic torque ripple from hydraulic motors (typically 5-15% ripple amplitude), preventing resonant excitation of the planetary gear mesh – especially important in AHC applications where motor speed and direction reverse frequently.
