தி EP-SL1801 operates on the epicyclic planetary gear principle. A single planetary stage is coaxially arranged within the sealed housing. The input sun gear meshes simultaneously with multiple planet gears orbiting within a fixed ring gear, distributing the load across all contact points simultaneously. This load-sharing principle is why planetary units achieve significantly greater torque density than parallel-shaft designs of equivalent housing diameter. A precision-ground output shaft or hollow bore transmits the multiplied torque to the driven machine with minimal backlash.

The housing is precision-cast from GGG50 ductile iron and machined to H7 bore tolerances. The output shaft is supported by back-to-back tapered roller bearings pre-loaded at the factory for zero axial play under combined radial and axial loads.
