The three-stage arrangement uses a helical-cut first stage to absorb high-speed input from the travel motor with reduced noise and vibration. Helical first-stage gears are precision-hobbed from 17CrNiMo6 alloy steel, carburised to 0.8-1.1 mm and ground to DIN 5 accuracy. The straight-cut second and third stages use 20CrMnTi steel ground to the same accuracy class. The housing bore is hard-anodised internally in the bearing zones to provide an interference-fit surface that resists fretting corrosion under vibration loading. Output shaft seals are dual-lip ฟลูออโรอีลาสโตเมอร์ FKM rated for synthetic gear oil at up to 120 degC.
