ദി EP-SC302 operates on the epicyclic planetary gear principle. Two sequential planetary stages are coaxially arranged within the sealed housing. The input sun gear meshes simultaneously with multiple planet gears orbiting within a fixed ring gear, distributing the load across all contact points simultaneously. This load-sharing principle is why planetary units achieve significantly greater torque density than parallel-shaft designs of equivalent housing diameter. A precision-ground output shaft or hollow bore transmits the multiplied torque to the driven machine with minimal backlash.

The housing is precision-cast from GGG50 ductile iron and machined to H7 bore tolerances.
