The EC3-series extends the compact housing concept to three stages, providing reduction ratios up to 150:1 in a housing diameter typically 12-18% smaller than an equivalent ET3-series unit. Working Principle
Three stages are nested coaxially in a reduced-diameter housing. The inter-stage floating sun shaft self-aligns between stages, eliminating any bending moment that would otherwise distort the sun gear teeth under offset loading in the compact housing. Housing is cast from GGG50 ductile iron and bore-ground to minimise material thickness in ring gear zones. Planet gears use 17CrNiMo6 carburised steel, ground to DIN 5.
